Helping You Make the Right Choice

About Ultralight Optics

We are the very first and only dental company, founded by a dental student, Ron Nguyen that manufactures a successful and powerful product.

Over the last 5 years, we have become the most popular LED Loupe-Light nationwide and the light of choice by dentists. Recently (Sept 2009), Ultralight Optics was ranked as the top choice in LED Headlights by an independent testing agency and articles of success and innovation have been published in Dental Town Magazine.

Users of our light are widespread, ranging from most dental schools, to many board members of the ADA and CDA actively using our lights.

Ultralight leads the loupe light revolution, that is why when you google "loupe light," we are the first hit. Because Feather light is made by dentists, for dentists, it captures every functional aspect of illumination necessary in dentistry, ergonomics, and vision care.

It all started with a phrase, "why can't they make this better," a phrase uttered by many dentists. But Ron took it one step further. By enlisting the help of the entire USC School of Dentistry, 800 students and faculty, and combining it with many engineers, we were able to greatly improve and revolutionize LED lighting technology.

Feather Light weighs only 0.13oz, with the next lightest light weighing at 0.5oz, which makes our light the only light that you can wear the entire day and still feel comfortable. Many of the other lights will only feel "ok to wear" when you try it on for 2 minutes at their booth, but those heavier lights become a burden when you wear 2 hours and all day.

Q: What makes your light better than other loupe lights?

A: Our light weighs only 0.13 (4g) and designed to be the lightest and smallest on the market. The next lightest light weighs 0.5oz.

Q: Why would I need a portable headlight when I have an overhead light?

A: If you can see it, you can do it.  As practicing dentists ourselves, having a shadow free, well lit work field enables us to work more efficiently and provide higher quality work.  You will never second guess a margin, or struggle with having proper lighting from indirect vision ever again.

Q: Does 3,600 foot candles provide enough brightness?

A: We’ve conducted studies with an ophthamologist to see what the optimum brightness should be.  2,200 foot candles is the comfortable brightness that clinicians prefer.  Too high of an intensity will cause damaging retinal fatigue and that is why we have a fully adjustable dimming knob with Feather Light.

Q: Are there replaceable light bulbs?

A: While conventional halogen bulbs have filaments that can break, our solid state LED lights are rated to last 50,000 hours.  It will practically last you forever.

Q: If I am not fully satisfied with the light, can I get a full refund?

A: Of course! We have the best return policy and warranty. It’s as easy as returning it within 45 days of receiving the light.

Q: Can the composite filter be removed if not in use?

A: This is the most advanced composite filter design.  It is designed with a strong friction grip that allows you to both remove the filter when you don’t need it and flip it up within a procedure.  Other filters must be permanently screwed on and are bulky.

Q: How important is the size and weight of the light?

A: The size is tiny.  Unlike other large loupe lights, it won’t block your vision. The weight is the most important factor in comfort.  Your loupes are already heavy enough as it is.  Having Feather Light prevents your loupes from sagging on your sensitive nose.  Most clinicians don’t even notice that it’s there because it is more than 3x lighter than other loupe lights.
